Healthcare Training
If you have a passion for caring for others, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, and value making a difference in people’s lives, becoming a healthcare assistant can be a fulfilling and meaningful career choice. The healthcare industry is known for its stability and continued growth. The demand for healthcare assistants remains high, as they play a vital role in supporting the delivery of healthcare services in Ireland.
Qualifications for the Role
Currently Health Care Assistants should have the relevant QQI (formerly FETAC) level 5 qualification or an equivalent relevant health care qualification. For people with a healthcare qualification from abroad, it must be comparable to Irish qualifications as outlined in the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) NARIC Ireland framework for foreign qualifications.
NARIC Ireland provides advice on the academic recognition of a foreign qualification by comparing it, where possible, to a major award type and level on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).
Best practice entry requirements to the role include obtaining QQI Level 5 Care Skills and Care of the Older Person with a plan in place to upskill to a QQI healthcare major award over a specified timeframe depending on the organisation.
The Cpl Institute’s Healthcare in-house training courses are all designed to lead to the QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare.
